Despite being an “open-minded” community, kink subcultures can still be judgmental about sexuality that doesn’t fit neatly into one box. The queer community has historically challenged rigid sexuality and gender roles and kinky people who are fluid in their expression of Dominance, submission, or something else entirely should be celebrated instead of met with skepticism.
In the spirit of Pride Month, Mistress Mia Action and Elli X Raven will discuss how you don’t have to choose between “Dominance” or “submission” when it comes to your sexual identity and pleasure. There are so many ways to switch!
Binary thinking can hold many of us back from pleasure; Mia and Elli will shed light on the endless possibilities of switching your power role during sex and kink. In this participatory workshop, Mia and Elli will debunk common (and incorrect) stereotypes about switching, the perils of erasure, difficulties that can arise during exploration, and how to figure out where you might fall on the switchy continuum.
Finally, we’ll share tips on how to find partners who feel your style of switching just as hot and who will support your journey of self-discovery and acceptance. Bring a pencil, pad, your thinking caps, and an open mind!
About the Educators
About Mistress Mia Action
Mistress Mia Action is an independent scholar, alternative sexuality consultant, Dominatrix, and artist based in Southern New Jersey and Philadelphia. In 2018, she founded the Power Exchange Roundtable, a social, support, and discussion group for people involved in or curious about Power Exchange. Mia is a current research fellow with the Community-Academic Consortium of Research on Alternative Sexuality (CARAS), studying how disgust and stigma can animate sexual arousal in fetishism. She is a highly sought after speaker, traveling nationally to lecture on unique and advanced topics in sadomasochism and fetish.
About Elli X Raven
I am a pro-BDSM provider (Domme and sub), content creator, sexual health educator and BDSM coach. I possess a Master's degree and worked as a mental health professional in a former life. I believe in the transformative power of kink and the D/s dynamic. It is more than just a role play to me; it has the power to be transcendent. The sessions I wish to be a part of are not purely transactional, but transformative. They allow for erotic and personal growth, liberation from the daily grind of life, and access to forbidden parts of ourselves that deserve to be actualized in a safe, caring environment.
