Practical Lock-Offs & Line Management
Run by - Dany Cox
18+
With a couple of major workshops just around the corner, we thought this would be the perfect opportunity to put this workshop on.
Good line management is one of the key elements that separates a functional suspension from one that is smooth, efficient, and enjoyable for everyone involved.
Yet one of the most overlooked aspects of line management is how we finish, redirect, and secure our lines.
Lock-offs are often treated as a quick finishing step, but they can change how a tie holds, adjusts, moves, and reads.
In this workshop, we’ll look at what lock-offs are actually doing, how different options behave, how to choose the right one for the situation rather than just defaulting to the same method every time.
We’ll cover a range of practical lock-offs, looking at their pros and cons, how they manage tension and direction, how easy they are to adjust or undo.
Also covering how they work across bamboo, rings, plates, carabiners, and whatever else you can wrap around rope around.
The focus will be on useful, readable, and intentional rope handling rather than learning a long list of fancy knots.
We’ll also touch on how lock-offs connect to cleaner upline management, including when to finish a line, when to redirect it, and when the upline can become part of the tie instead of just being burned off.
