Description

BDSM 101: The Foundations - Round 3

Hosted by Mistress Jess

We’re kicking off a new series at The Skill Exchange’s new home — with a fresh round of our most popular workshop.

Now at Wavell Heights Community Hall — LOWER HALL.

Whether you’re brand new, returning after time away, or wanting to strengthen your fundamentals, this workshop sets you up with the knowledge, confidence, and community grounding that make kink safer and more sustainable for everyone.

This is a discussion‑based educational workshop (no play).
Expect clear information, open conversation, and a respectful, community‑minded space.

Already been? Every round is different. New people, new questions, new insights. Returning participants always add depth to the room — and it’s a great way to stay connected with community.

What we’ll cover

  • What BDSM actually is — and isn’t
  • Consent frameworks & safewords
  • Limits, boundaries, and negotiation
  • Aftercare: why it matters for everyone
  • SSC, RACK, PRICK — what these safety models mean in practice
  • Red flags in dynamics & relationships
  • Building healthy, sustainable kink connections

Community expectations & protocol

This workshop also introduces the shared values that keep kink spaces safe and enjoyable. We’ll talk about:

  • Respectful behaviour & communication
  • Confidentiality and discretion
  • How to participate without dominating the room
  • Supporting others’ boundaries and identities
  • What it means to be a positive community member
  • When to step back, when to speak up, and how to navigate discomfort safely

Who this class is for

  • Tops & dominants wanting stronger duty‑of‑care foundations
  • Bottoms & submissives wanting tools for safety, autonomy, and negotiation
  • Switches who enjoy understanding both sides of the slash
  • Newcomers wanting a solid, no‑nonsense introduction
  • Anyone wanting to refresh their basics and reconnect with community values

Everyone is welcome. Bring your curiosity, your questions, and your desire to build safer, healthier kink connections.
