Description

Let's tie to some vertical posts! Hashira ties can be hot, but can carry additional risk, more than suspension. In this class, we’ll discuss hashira attachments, risk management, navigating tying with the post and upline management, and two classical hashira shapes, one on the floor and one in the air. We'll play with the feeling of being restrained and stuck to the post and discuss the emotions that brings up.

Prerequisites: This is a partnered tying class. It is possible to self-tie hashira, but is riskier and will not be covered. Attendees must both have prior suspension experience. People tying must be able to quickly and safely tie a suspension-worthy chest harness, upline hangars and lockoffs, and their upline management must be well-practiced. People in rope must be interested in feeling restrained and stuck, must be able to communicate issues that arise in rope, must be able to recognize signs of vasovagal response (fainting), and distinguish between circulation and nerve compression.

About the presenters:
Juno Sloane (Dancehalldyke, she/they) is a switch who likes to play with power dynamics, emotional vulnerability, and darker themes from both sides of the rope. Her style is a mix of traditional kinbaku with dynamic transitions and athleticism. She has a background in classical ballet, modern dance, and mathematical physics. In her vanilla life, she is a college professor, and has been teaching math and physics for 15 years. She is a student of Barkas, although she has many other influences and instructors. She have been teaching rope for three years nationally and internationally at Vox Body Studio, Temple New York, Dark Odyssey, Ropecraft, Northern Exposure Alaska, Birdhaus Toronto, The Jungle House Costa Rica, and more. Her rope performances have been featured at Twisted Windows, Seattle Erotic Arts Festival, Folsom Street Fair, SF Pride, Kinkfest, VoxBody Studio, and more.

Slab_me_harder (she/her) explores emotions, capabilities, and vulnerabilities thru rope. Her goal is to create mesmerizing and emotional rope scenes and performances that seek to subvert traditional rope norms and build space for queer community in rope. Her rope performances have been featured at Folsom Street Fair, Seattle Erotic Art Festival, SF Pride, Nuit des Cordes, VoxBody Studio, Birdhaus Toronto, and more. She has taught rope nationally and internationally at Dark Odyssey, VoxBody Studio, Temple New York, Ropecraft, Birdhaus Toronto, and more.
