Description

Dear shibari friends,

We are happy to present a short workshop exploring one of the most overlooked yet essential elements of rope practice — breath.

Breath & Body is an all-levels workshop open to both models and riggers. No tying experience is required and no rope will be used. The focus is entirely on developing body and breath awareness as a tool for safer, more connected rope experiences.

For models, this workshop offers a foundation of confidence — particularly in suspension, unfamiliar harnesses, emergencies, and semenawa or breathplay scenes. For riggers, it offers a deeper understanding of how breath functions under restriction, and the language and awareness to guide less experienced models through what they may be feeling in their body.

Drawing from somatic practice, theatre, and direct experience in rope, this workshop approaches breath not as a technique to be mastered but as a relationship to be understood. We will explore different areas of the body breath can access, how restriction changes what is available, and how this awareness can be a meaningful resource — both practically and psychologically — in a scene.

The session will involve moderate physical movement and floor work. Comfortable clothing is recommended.

We hope to see you there.
