Bamboo is a simple yet surprisingly versatile tool that can completely change the dynamics of floor work. In this workshop, we'll explore playful and creative ways of incorporating bamboo into kinbaku, using it to inspire movement, interaction, and new forms of expression of bottoms.
Rather than focusing on complex constructions, we'll use bamboo as a way to create engaging floor-based scenes. Together, we'll discover how it can influence posture, connection, tension, balance, and the flow between partners. Through a series of guided exercises, participants will learn practical ways to integrate bamboo naturally into their rope practice while maintaining comfort, communication, and adaptability.
This workshop is an invitation to experiment, improvise, and play. Instead of treating bamboo as just another structural element, we'll use it as a source of inspiration for creating unique, dynamic, and memorable floor experiences.
Prerequisites: Participants should be comfortable with fundamental rope handling and basic floor ties. No previous experience with bamboo is required.
Vik is a rigger and educator based in Barcelona who has been exploring Kinbaku for the past seven years. After experiencing both roles in rope, he found his path as a rigger, developing a style that balances simplicity with intricacy, where every tie serves a clear purpose and intention.
His work focuses on intentional intensity, highlighting the beauty of the body, emotion, and connection through rope. His tying combines a mixture of darkness, strength, delicacy, intensity, eroticism, closeness, power, and more primal instincts, creating experiences.
Alongside teaching at Shizen Studio Barcelona, which he co-runs with Gala, Vik regularly teaches workshops internationally and has presented performances and live rope sessions throughout Europe and abroad. He has also collaborated on professional photography and video projects, using rope as a medium for artistic expression.
Committed to continuous learning and research, his teaching emphasizes solid technical foundations while encouraging creativity, adaptability, and the development of each student’s own artistic voice.
