Description

Discover My Approach to Kinbaku

Through a complete set of exercises and experimentation, this intensive week-long workshop is designed for those ready to dive deeper into the world of Kinbaku — from foundational techniques to the elegance of suspension. It’s ideal for individuals traveling from afar, those who prefer a focused and immersive study period, or anyone eager for a structured and embodied progression in rope art.

Whether you’re new to my style or already familiar with it, this workshop offers a unique opportunity to explore the techniques, concepts, and philosophy that form the core of my Kinbaku.

This is not a beginner’s introduction. Participants should already have basic experience in rope practice — ideally having completed my initiation workshop Begin your Kinbaku journey (or equivalent), and be familiar with:

  • Fundamental safety rules and risk awareness
  • The single column tie
  • At least one pattern of their choice
  • A few hours of practice/experimentation in tying and/or being tied

This week will give you the essential foundations to understand my approach and a strong base to grow in your rope journey.

Who Is It For?

This workshop is for:

  • Those who have taken my weekend introduction or have equivalent experience.
  • Riggers and models who understand basic safety and body management.
  • Anyone interested in discovering and embodying my technique, philosophy, and style.
  • More advanced practitioners are very welcome and will find new insights through a shift in perspective, creative refinement, and deeper conceptual tools.

What We’ll Explore

Foundational Rope Work and Beyond

We’ll revisit core principles: knots, frictions, rope handling — then expand into patterns like Gote, Mae, Karada, Enzo, and Gyaku Ashi. These are more than forms; they’re tools to explore tension, movement, and the dialogue between bodies.

Posture, Breathing, and Body Management

Presence, connection, and intention. We’ll study how to manage your body and your partner’s through rhythm, distance, and awareness — both physical and emotional.

From the Floor to Suspension

We build toward full suspension, starting with floorwork and semi-suspensions. The main reference will be Arisue’s Go Yokotsuri (Side Suspension), which is central in my Kinbaku logic.

The Role of the Model

Modeling is active participation. We’ll work on structure, adaptability, body language, and communication — making every tie a shared and conscious experience.

Philosophy and Creativity

This workshop is a space to reflect and evolve. We’ll ask not only how but why — to cultivate a personal, poetic, and intentional rope language.
