We tend to see certain images over and over in popular media: sadists who are cold, detached, brutal; masochists who are self-sabotaging and weak. As kinksters we know there are many more ways to be both of these things, but what are they and how do you figure out which fits you best?

Are you someone who likes pushing people emotionally and seeing their face squirm, or would you rather hit hard and ask questions later? Do you want to be quickly beaten into submission, or strung out for a long time before you get what’s coming to you? Is your inner sadist a schoolyard bully or a strict interrogator? As a masochist are you a pathetic punching bag or a steadfast devotee? In this workshop, we will explore ways to find out what things really delight you about sadomasochism (from either side of it).

Accessibility:

Mobility:

Studio Allegory is on the ground floor and there are no significant steps anywhere in the space. A 2” step exists to enter one of the two tying areas. This step is passable by common wheelchair models.
Chairs can be provided for classes and events.

Hygiene:

There is a single washroom for all with a handle bar and an air hand dryer. We have unscented soap, and we run an industrial air purifier which monitors the air quality within the studio automatically and cleans the air automatically.

Masks are available at the studio and we have regular events that are mask only.

Neurodivergence:

Studio Allegory has a quiet room equipped with fidget toys, colouring books, blankets, noise cancelling earmuffs, and stuffed animals. Upon request we can provide closed captions for our workshops running on a screen.

Music during events: The volume is on a minimum and usually barely audible amongst normal conversations.

Food:

Studio Allegory has a kitchen corner with a kettle and a coffee maker, as well as a mini fridge and a microwave.
