Hateful Conduct
FetLife is committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive community for all kinksters, regardless of background or identity. Hateful conduct, whether in public or private, undermines our community and is prohibited on FetLife.
How we define Hateful Conduct
Hateful conduct includes attacks on a person or group of people based on their race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, sex, gender, sexual orientation, or disability.
We use multiple sources to determine what constitutes hateful conduct and evaluate all content based on context.
What is in violation of this policy
We do not allow any content that depicts or promotes hateful conduct, whether in public or private. This includes:
- Encouraging others to harass or discriminate against a person or group of people based on their identity
- Referring to a person or group of people as sub-human based on their identity and within a hateful context
- Mocking or attacking a person or group's physical features to demean or dehumanize them on the basis of their identity
- Using a highly derogatory hateful slur to attack another person or group of people, even if that slur does not apply to the target's identity
- Denying that a mass murder or mass casualty event took place, where we can verify that the event occurred, and where a protected identity was the primary target
- Intentionally misgendering an individual or group to demean or attack their gender identity, it has to be clear that they are attacking their gender identity and it’s not a general insult
- Equating a person's or group of people's gender or sexual orientation with a mental illness, pedophilia, or grooming to attack or demean them
- Conspiratorial claims that a person or group is evil, corrupt, or malicious based on their identity
- Attacking someone for being with or being into people of a certain protected identity
- Promoting or glorifying hate groups or their ideologies
- Posting a hate symbol within a hateful context
The following are not allowed publicly and may only appear in private, consensual sexual contexts:
- Public use of a consensual sexual use of a racial slur in a consensual roleplay or fantasy context
- Public use of a hate symbol in consensual roleplay or fantasy context
What happens if someone violates this policy
Violating this policy will result in an automatic time-out. The length of the first time-out depends on the severity. Repeated violations will double the timeout length and can result in permanent account removal.
For example, if a member calls another member a slur in a hateful context, publicly or privately, they will receive a minimum of a one-week time-out.
Public use of a consensual sexual racial slur or a hate symbol in consensual roleplay or fantasy context will be locked private. If locking private is not an option, the content will be removed.
In the case where someone joins FetLife with the sole focus of spreading or promoting hate speech, their account will be permanently deleted.
