Person in Picture / Video

People should only post a picture or video if everyone visible or identifiable in the content consents to it being posted.

Anyone can withdraw their consent at any time and request that FetLife remove a picture or video of them. When this happens, we take the content down for them.

How do we define Person in Picture/Video

A photo or video where a person is partially or fully visible. This also includes illustrations, CGI, and AI-generated content where the person depicted is identifiable.

What is in violation of this policy

We do not allow any picture or video to be posted if a person in it does not consent or no longer consents. This includes:

  • A photo or video that includes a person who has asked for the content to be removed. This includes content where the person is partially or fully visible.
  • Illustration, CGI, or AI-generated content that depicts an identifiable person who has asked for the content to be removed. (e.g. deepfakes)
  • A photo or video that matches a StopNCII hash previously submitted to StopNCII. You can read more about how StopNCII works on their site.

What happens if someone violates this policy

When we receive a report, we first make sure that the person who reported the content is in the picture or video. If we cannot identify the reporter, we reach out to them and ask for help identifying them in the content. Once we confirm that the reporter is in the picture or video, we take the content down.

If the same person reposts the content we remove it and issue them a one-day time-out. Repeated violations will double the length of the time out and can lead to permanent account removal.

Who can report a potential violation of this policy

Anyone visible or identifiable in a picture or video who wants the content removed can report it.

In cases involving people who live in Florida, a designated agent may submit a report on their behalf as required by Brooke’s Law.

How to report a potential violation of this policy

If you see content of yourself that you want removed, you can find reporting steps on our Submitting a Report page.

If you cannot access the content to report it directly, you can report the content by emailing us at [email protected]. If you are a designated agent for someone who lives in Florida, you can email us a report to [email protected]. Please include links to the content you want removed and a way for us to contact the person who appears in the picture or video.
