Human Trafficking
Human trafficking is the illegal trade of human beings for the purposes of exploitation, typically involving force, fraud, or coercion. It encompasses the recruitment, transportation, transfer, harboring, or receipt of individuals through means such as threats, abduction, deception, or abuse of power, with the intent to exploit them. Exploitation can take various forms, including forced labor, sexual exploitation, slavery, servitude, or the removal of organs.
Human trafficking violates fundamental human rights and is recognized as a serious crime under international law, such as the United Nations Protocol to Prevent, Suppress and Punish Trafficking in Persons (part of the Palermo Protocols), as well as under national laws in many countries.
