Freely Given, Reversible, Informed, Enthusiastic, Specific (FRIES)

The Freely Given, Reversible, Informed, Enthusiastic, Specific (FRIES) model of consent is a consent model used in broader sex education, especially around teaching consent in general. FRIES is an acronym for the following:

F - Freely Given A "yes" should come without any pressure or the feeling that there will be repercussions to sayin "no." Are you feeling pressured into your 'yes'? Are they a host and you feel like you won't be invited again if you say no? Are you feeling like you have to go a long with your peer group? Then your consent is not "freely given"

R- Reversible Yes can turn to no at any point, for any reason. There isn't a stage where someone cannot say stop.

I- Informed The person must fully understand what they are agreeing to. That includes any possible risks, or long-term effects such as marks (and how long they'll last.)

E- Enthusiastic True consent is an enthusiastic "yes, please!" not something like "ummm, yeah...I guess?" Anything less than ENTHUSIASTIC consent should be taken as a no!

S - Specific Make sure what you are saying yes to is all-encompassing of the thing you are about to do. Do not add in other elements that weren't discussed and agreed to.

The FRIES model can be combined with BDSM consent models like SSC, RACK, or PRICK to make negotiations clearer.
