Wireplay

Wireplay is a kink involving wires, ports, plugs, jacks, or other electronic parts on a synthetic being, such as a robot, android, cyborg, or mechanical character. These parts are touched, connected, or manipulated to create physical pleasure or sexual arousal. The idea is most common in science fiction, fantasy, and roleplay, where a character’s body may include technology instead of, or alongside, human anatomy.

Wireplay is mainly a fictional kink because this kind of technology does not currently exist. It is usually explored through erotic stories, artwork, roleplay, tabletop games, and other imaginative media. Depending on the setting, it may include themes of control, objectification, maintenance, vulnerability, ownership, or sensory play. In some depictions, wireplay acts like genital stimulation for a synthetic character. In others, it is shown as a completely different kind of intimacy based on how the character’s body is designed.

Wireplay in Pop Culture

Wireplay appears in science fiction, cyberpunk, and robot-focused media, although it is rarely called wireplay. Fans have developed the idea further through original stories, fanfiction, and artwork featuring robots, androids, and other synthetic beings whose ports, cables, or internal wiring are shown as sensitive or sexually responsive. As with many fictional kinks, the details vary widely between creators and settings.
