Penis Health & Care

Hygiene

In case your penis is not circumcised, it is important to keep the head and foreskin of you penis clean to prevent infections. When showering, make sure to pull the foreskin all the way back and gently rub all the length of the penis with some neutral soap.

Self-exam

Abnormal bumps or spots on the penis might be a sign of an STI such as HPV, molluscum contagiusum or Herpes genitalis.

However, be aware that bumps at the basis of the glans may also be PPP (Pearly penile papules), which are benign and do not require treatment.

If you suspect you have any such STI, contact your doctor and abstain from sex in the meantime.

Short frenum

Penile Frenum or frenulum is the medical name of the small band of tissue that connects the tip of the penis to the foreskin. If you frenum is too short, it is uncomfortable or impossible for you to fully retract your foreskin, and erections or sexual intercourse might be painful. If you suffer from this condition, contact your doctor: it is possible to remove the frenum with minor surgery, or to stretch it to normal length using specific techniques.
