Anal August
Anal August is an annual celebration of any form of anal sex. The month-long event can be enjoyed by any gender. Some people approach Anal August as a potential challenge, while others view it as a celebration of anal sex and a way to break the taboo around anal play.
The term is used is sex-positive communities, by sex toy brands and bloggers, and by anal play lovers. Sex educators and bloggers often use it as a content theme to de-stigmatize anal play, and discuss anatomy, pleasure, and consent.
Some people turn Anal August into Anal Only August (or AO August for short) and will challenge themselves to only have anal forms of sex. On FetLife, this can include posting updates about how their challenge is going, much as they would with Locktober.

Origins of the Term
The term is believed to have been coined by sex toy shop Good Vibrations in the early 2000s. It likely originated as a sex-ed campaign, similar to "Masturbation May." It has become more popular through forums and social media since 2017 (source).
