World BDSM Day

World BDSM Day is an annual observance on July 24 meant to celebrate the BDSM/kink community, its diversity, and its practices. It works to raise awareness and dispel myths and stigma about consensual BDSM. It also provides an opportunity for education, social events, workshops, and community connection.

World BDSM was founded in 2003 by Kurt Walter Fisher, who was the owner of the Rosas Cinco Club in Barcelona. The date, July 24 (7/24), was chosen as a symbolic nod to “24/7 BDSM," the idea of a BDSM role, identity, or dynamic being lived continuously, around the clock.

World BDSM Day is now celebrated relatively widely in kinky and sex-positive spaces.
