Suspension Frame

A suspension frame is a free standing structure that is primarily used for suspension bondage. Often this can be rope bondage, however other forms can also be used and in some frames sex swings can be added as well. Suspension frames are generally made of wood or metal as those materials are sturdy enough to carry the weight of a person.

Types of Suspension Frames

There are several types of frames that can be found:

  • Cube frame: This is literally a cube with equal sides and larger than the person. Often in the middle there are one or more hard-points to attach a person to. This is the most stable type of frame generally, but also the heaviest.
  • Tripod: The most portable version that uses straps at the base to keep the three legs from going apart and create a single hard point in the middle. This very light version is less stable generally.
  • A-frame: A common solution made out of wood and looking a lot like a swing for in the garden or a strutted pagoda. The person is suspended from the horizontal beam at the top. These are lighter and also provide a very sturdy base and are a compromise between the two previous options.

While it's possible to purchase a suspension frame, most of them are self-made. Some have features that allow for easy disassembly, while others are more permanent. In any case, it is advised to always check the hard points on these frames, just like any hard-point for suspension.
