Obsessive Compulsive Disorder

Also known as OCD. Intrusive, repetitive thoughts (obsessions) that lead to repetitive behaviors (compulsions).

Obsessive-compulsive disorder is characterized by intrusive and unwanted distressing thoughts that lead to compulsive behaviors.

People with OCD may carry out rituals or actions to reduce the anxiety of the intrusive thoughts and to provide temporary relief. As the relief is only temporary, people with OCD can often begin to loop the actions or rituals with them becoming compulsions, hence the name of the disorder.

There are several different themes that OCD can take on:

• Contamination OCD
• Harm OCD (which may manifest as fear of harming the self or others possibly in a sexual way)
• Symmetry or Order OCD
• Taboo OCD, or obsessions with morality or religion

OCD & Kink

OCD can often flare when a person is put under stress, which after care even more vital when playing with people with OCD to help them get back to their baseline.

OCD & Relationships

In some cases, being in a relationship with someone with OCD may require understanding and patience for the person living with the condition from their partner(s). May need support when dealing with intrusive thoughts and helping to ground themselves when facing compulsions.

OCD & Identity

Sexual Orientation OCD is a variation of OCD in which the person has intrusive and compulsive thoughts about their sexuality, whether or not they experience sexual attraction to certain people (appropriate or inappropriate), how it is perceived by others or about their sexuality suddenly changing. They may some times engage in activities to prove that they belong to particular sexual orientation. Some people also have Gender Identity OCD, which is similar but instead causes uncertainty about their gender identity or expression.
