Straitjacket

A piece of clothing that is similar to a jacket but that is used to restrain a person as safely as possible.

In most common situations this comes in a jacket shape that opens from the back and has closed sleeves with straps on the end of them. The wearer is strapped into it from the back and their arms are crossed in front of their body. The straps at end of the closed sleeves are then used "lock" the arms into position. In some cases crotch belts are added to make sure the garment cannot be lifted over the person's head easily. Traditionally made out of sturdy canvas and used in the medical field to restrain patients, for BDSM purposes it also comes in other materials like leather, rubber or latex.

In some alternative designs the jacket can have the chest exposed by openings or zippers and the crotch belts are made in a way that allows access to genitals and anus. There are also more form fitting jackets that are made as clothing for fetish events and other additions like extra attachment rings, extra belts and lockable clasps are options for a straitjacket used in BDSM.
