Polyaffectionate
Polyaffetctionate usually refers to someone who has or wants affectionate, intimate relationships with more than one person that are not necessarily romantic or sexual. It is often used by those who feel the word "romantic" doesn't quite fit their bond.
Being polyaffectionate overlaps with being polyamorous. But while polyamory describes multiple intimate or romantic relationships, polyaffectionate relationships are more about platonic, queerplatonic, non-romantic, or non-sexual intimacy.
Origins of the Term Polyaffectionate
Polyaffectionate appears to have emerged in asexual and non-monogamy communities, and was being used by at least 2006. The word combines "poly" which means "many," with "affectionate" and was likely modeled on the term polyamorous. It was later adopted more widely in aromantic communities to describe having or wanting multiple intimate, non-romantic relationships.
