Anasyrma

Anasyrma is the act of lifting a skirt or kilt, often seen in religious rituals, erotic contexts, or playful jokes. Historically, it was believed to have a powerful impact, sometimes bringing good fortune and other times causing fear or awe.

When consensually used in an overt fashion, this is often done as a type of play related to exposure, humiliation and embarrassment (of the one being exposed), and potentially objectification.

If being done subtly, it is often an expression of voyeurism (in the one lifting the skirt to "get a peek") and/or exhibitionism (with the one who is giving said peek). This may be called "upskirt," although this term is also used to refer to nonconsensually peeking or taking pictures up skirts and dresses.
