Receiving joy from other people's joy. This is not received in a voyeuristic way but because you love someone and therefore enjoy that they are experiencing joy. This word is often used to describe the feeling of joy experienced by a partner finding romantic or sexual happiness with others. Their happiness is important to you and you feel good when they are happy.

Compersion and Jealousy

Some people consider compersion to be the "opposite" of jealousy but sometimes both feelings can exist at the same time. It can happen that you are jealous and that you are prepared to bear your own feelings of jealousy because you find the compersion that you feel for your partner to be more important and more satisfying.
