Capitalization In Kink

It is often traditional, particularly in online spaces, for folks to use lowercase when referring to submissive roles and upper case when referring to Dominant roles. For example - D/s (Dominance and submission) is frequently written with the "D" as a capital letter and the "s" as a lowercase letter to symbolise the power exchange.

This style has also been used by some people in a D/s dynamic when communicating via text, with the submissive capitalizing You when referring to their Dominant and i when referring to themselves in messages.

In communication about a kink duo, personal pronouns were also capitalized structurally as part of the protocol. So, a D/s couple might write:

W/we went to the club. O/our goal is to be safe.

This was much more common in the past than it is today. It is not in widespread use in much of the community, but is recognized as a personal protocol when people choose to use it.
