Homiesexual
Homiesexual is a slang term, usually used by heterosexual people, to describe playful, affectionate behavior with friends. It can also be used when close friends are assumed to be lovers. It’s typically framed as joking, bonding, or situational. It typically does not imply attraction or a change in sexual identity.
In kink or sex-positive contexts, the term may be used to explain same sex contact that happens as part of a role, dynamic, or shared experience (such as humiliation, service, or performance) while the person still identifies as straight.
Origins of the Term
Homiesexual originated as informal slang in straight, male-dominated social spaces. It combines “homie” (close male friend) with “sexual” to jokingly describe playful, affectionate, or situationally sexual behavior between men.
Controversy
Homiesexual is controversial because people disagree on what sexual behavior means. Some say that if a man does sexual things with other men, that makes him bisexual or gay, and using a term like homiesexual is a way to avoid or deny that. Others say labels should be based on attraction and identity, not on situational or role-based behavior, especially in kink or joking contexts. Because of this, some people see the term as helpful shorthand, while others see it as dismissive or biphobic.
