Acrotomophillia
Acrotomophilia is a sexual preference or fetish where someone is sexually aroused by people who have amputations. It often involves a fascination with their missing limbs or prosthetics. For some, the attraction exists mostly in fantasy (stories, porn, roleplay); others actively seek amputee partners.
Origins of the Term
The term comes from Greek roots, where "akron" means "extremity" or "limb," "tomos" means "cut," and "philia" means "love" or "attraction."
Controversy
Fetishizing a disability can be harmful, particularly if it reduces someone to only their disability instead of recognizing them as a whole person. Like any fetish, acrotomophilia should be approached with consent, communication, and respect. When both partners embrace it willingly, it can be part of a healthy dynamic. Without consent, it crosses into exploitation.
