Genderfluid
Genderfluid describes someone whose gender identity changes over time or depending on the situation. A genderfluid person may fluctuate between two or more genders, between having a gender and having no gender, or between different combinations of genders.
A genderfluid person's gender expression or presentation may also change, although it doesn't necessarily change alongside their gender identity.
Genderfluid people don't necessarily experience every gender. Some use more specific terms to describe which genders they fluctuate between.
Genderfluidity can also be described using more specific gender identities, including:
- Genderfruct: Describes someone whose gender fluctuates between masculine, feminine, and nonbinary or unaligned genders, but not necessarily every gender.
- Genderfloren: Describes someone who is fluid between multiple nonbinary genders, potentially including masculine and feminine nonbinary genders, but never fully male or female.
- Genderfaer: Describes someone who is fluid between multiple genders, potentially including masculine nonbinary genders, but never fully male.
- Genderfae: Describes someone who is fluid between multiple genders but never experiences male or masculine genders.
- Genderfaunet: Describes someone who is fluid between multiple genders, potentially including feminine nonbinary genders, but never fully female.
- Genderfaun: Describes someone who is fluid between multiple genders but never experiences female or feminine genders.
- Genderfloret: Describes someone who is fluid between nonbinary genders, including potentially feminine ones, but never masculine genders or fully male or female.
- Genderflorer: Describes someone who is fluid between nonbinary genders, including potentially masculine ones, but never feminine genders or fully male or female.
A common abbreviation for genderfluid is GF. It is sometimes also spelled "gender-fluid."
