Pivotgender
Pivotgender (also called expecgender or swivelgender) is a gender identity in which a person's experienced gender changes depending on who they are around. The shift is tied to the people present rather than occurring randomly or over time.
For example, a pivotgender person might:
- Feel more masculine around some people and feminine around others.
- Experience a non-binary, agender, or different gendered feeling in different social contexts.
- Notice genuine changes in their internal sense of gender, not just changes in gender expression or behavior.
It's generally considered a form of mutogender (a gender that changes under certain circumstances). It is often grouped under the broader non-binary or genderfluid umbrellas, though not everyone who identifies as pivotgender uses those labels.
