Anvil
The anvil is a sex position in which the penetrating partner is on top, while the receiving partner lies beneath with their legs raised and draped over the arms or shoulders of the penetrator. The position is most often used for vaginal penetration.
Origins of the Term
The position is often associated with forceful, “hammering” thrusts. This is where the comparison to a hammer striking an anvil comes from.
Why People Are Into It
In the anvil position, the person on top has a certain level of control as the legs of the person at the bottom are folded. It also gives some extra pressure, so penetration can be deeper than in other positions. The support from the legs of the person below also can free up the hands of the person on top to do other activities with like breath play and other activities in rough sex.
