Acespec
Acespec (short for asexual spectrum) is an umbrella term for anyone whose experience of sexual attraction is limited, variable, situational, or different from the allosexual norm. People on the acespec may not experience sexual attraction at all, may experience it rarely, may need specific conditions for it to occur, or may have fluctuating patterns of attraction.
People use acespec as a standalone identity label, especially when they don't feel that a more specific micro-label that fits. People also use acespec as a label when they experience attraction that is fluid, shifting, or situational, or just prefer an umbrella identity.
It includes identities such as:
- Asexual: No or extremely low sexual attraction.
- Demisexual: Sexual attraction only after a strong emotional bond.
- Graysexual / Gray-ace: Occasional or context-dependent sexual attraction.
- Aceflux: Sexual attraction that fluctuates over time.
- Cupiosexual: Does not feel sexual attraction but still desires sexual activity or relationships.
- Fraysexual: Loses sexual attraction as emotional closeness grows.
- Reciprosexual: Feels sexual attraction only after knowing someone is attracted to them.
Many acespecs still enjoy romantic relationships, intimacy, and kink. Note that sexual attraction and sexual behavior are not the same, and acespec includes a wide range of relationships with sex, libido, and desire.
