“Caed” comes from the Latin "caedere," meaning “to cut.” Many users describe the label as representing the sense that their capacity for attraction feels “cut away.”
The term originated in online MOGAI/ace-spectrum spaces as a way to make room for people whose asexuality is trauma-influenced without defining them by trauma.
