Forcemasc
Forcemasc, short for forced masculinization, is a kink or fantasy involving someone being made, pressured, trained, or strongly encouraged to become more masculine or accept themselves as a man.
Some people explore forcemasc through consensual roleplay with a partner, but many engage with it primarily through fantasies, memes, erotica, fan fiction, or gender-affirming posts. It can be sexual, nonsexual, or somewhere between the two.

Forcemasc can take many forms, but it usually includes some combination of:

Styles of Forcemasc
Forecmasc tends to follow two main styles:
- Gentle Forcemasc: Includes praise, reassurance, motivational posts, masculine pet names, and encouragement to transition or accept oneself. Some people see this one as so far removed from coercion they call it "encouragemasc."
- Hardcore Forcemasc: Includes restraint, experimentation, transformation, training, control, or being physically and psychologically “made” masculine.
Origins of the Term
The fantasy now called forcemasc existed well before the shortened term became popular online. A gender and sexuality dictionary from 1996 defined forced masculinization as an erotic game in which a woman was “forced” to behave like a boy or man or wear masculine clothing. It also described forced cross-dressing as a form of consensual roleplay. This version of forced masculinization centers women rather than transmasculine people, but it shows that forced masculinization was already recognized as a niche gender-play fantasy in the 1990s.
The practice also appeared in academic kink research before forcemasc became an established internet term. A 2015 study surveyed 1,580 adult women recruited from the kink community about 126 erotic activities, including imposed masculinization. Around 15% reported participating in it “in any form.” However, the study reflects an older and broader category that is not necessarily identical to today’s transmasculine forcemasc culture.
As it's used today, forcemasc was probably coined as a masculine counterpart to forcefem, the common abbreviation for forced feminization. Forcemasc posts were circulating on Tumblr by 2023, and began appearing on Reddit that same year. Google Search data also shows that searches for forecemasc don't begin registering until 2023, followed by strong growth. This suggests that forcemasc, as it is used today, only emerged around the early 2000s.
It is likely Tumblr that helped turn forcemasc into a recognizable content genre. The main tag currently has around 13,000 followers, alongside separate tags for gentle forcemasc, soft forcemasc and SFW forcemasc.
Why People Are Into Forcemasc
People enjoy this kink for many different reasons. Here are a few:
Gender Affirmation and Euphoria
For many trans men and transmasculine people, forcemasc provides an intense form of gender affirmation. Being firmly called a man, addressed with masculine terms, or told that their masculinity is obvious can create confidence, comfort, or gender euphoria.
Being Encouraged to Stop Hiding
Some people face pressure to remain feminine, avoid transitioning, or continue presenting in ways that make others comfortable. Forcemasc reverses that experience. Instead of being discouraged from embracing masculinity, they are told that they cannot hide or deny it any longer.
