Boot Licking
Boot licking is a kink or fetish practice in which one partner licks, kisses, or otherwise uses their mouth on another person's boots (or other footwear). It often blends elements of submission, service, degradation, humiliation, and intimacy. It is closely tied to leather culture, boot blacking traditions, and power exchange. It can also be a component of boot fetishism or boot kink.
Origins
Boot licking has roots that long predate its appearance in kink. Historically, acts involving kissing or touching footwear symbolized extreme deference, humility, or submission to authority, appearing in contexts ranging from Roman imperial rituals to Christian foot-washing traditions.
By the 18th and 19th centuries, “bootlicker” had entered common language as a derogatory term to describer someone who submits to authority to gain approval or avoid punishment.
In the 20th century, particularly within leather and BDSM communities, these same symbols of authority were reclaimed. The act of boot licking came to be transformed into a consensual ritual of submission, service, and devotion.
Why People Are Into It
People are into boot licking for many different reasons. Here are a few of the more common ones.

Safety and Consent
Boot licking carries some risk. Street boots can carry bacteria, parasites, and viruses (animal feces, human waste, chemicals from sidewalks, etc.). These can cause GI illness, eye/skin infections, and other unpleasant health consequences. Leather conditioners and polishes can also be toxic and unsafe to ingest.
To minimize the risk, some people keep a pair of boots just for worshipping. This pair is clean and not worn outdoors. For those who like dirty boots, some people make "dirt" out of things they can find in the kitchen, like flour or cocoa powder. Submissives can also avoid licking the soles of boots, where the most dangerous pathogens are likely to exist.
As for polishing products, some people in the leather community swear by Huberd's Shoe Grease. It is minimally toxic, but it's still best to let it soak in for a few days before licking.
