Separated
"Separated" means that a person is still legally or formerly in a committed relationship (such as a marriage or long-term partnership) but is currently living apart from their partner and no longer romantically or sexually involved - at least for the time being.
Someone who is separated may be navigating the end of a relationship while exploring new dynamics, healing, or redefining themselves. They may still be legally married or share other ties (kids, finances, history), but are no longer emotionally or intimately active with that partner. Being “separated” can signal that someone is emotionally available, but also in transition, possibly still processing grief, anger, or change.
