Throuple

A throuple is a relationship shared by three people who’ve chosen to build something intentional together. This connection can be romantic, sexual, emotional, or some blend of the three. It’s not always a perfect triangle; each connection carries its own shape. One person might hold deep bonds with the other two, while those two share something quieter - platonic, practical, or undefined.

A throuple is made of four relationships: one between each pair, and one that belongs to all three. While the depth of each bond may differ, there’s usually no set hierarchy. It's just three people committing to show up with honesty, care, and a willingness to let love take the form it needs. Another term for throuple is "triad," although throuple is considered the more informal version of this term.

Each throuple is unique, with members setting their own boundaries and rules around fidelity, intimacy, and personal space. But what defines it isn’t symmetry or sameness. It’s the mutual, intentional involvement of all three partners in shaping a relationship that works for them.
