Fusion Bondage

Fusion bondage is a mixed-style bondage practice that combines techniques, aesthetics, or philosophies from different bondage systems within rope bondage, such as Japanese rope bondage (shibari/kinbaku), Western-style leather or metal restraints, artistic suspension, or even theatrical performance.

The exact term has a wide variety of uses where it could mean Western bondage with some Japanese influences, but can also be used for styles that are closer to Japanese bondage. Due to the sometimes very strict and formal nature of Japanese bondage style teachings, many practitioners that deviate from the main styles but still base their work on Japanese bondage will call their style "fusion," "hybrid," or "Japanese inspired."
