Western Bondage
As a style of Rope Bondage, Western Bondage differentiates itself by using a lot of weave patterns and knots that originate from sailing and survival techniques commonly used and taught in the west.
Origin
Generally it is thought that the modern form of western bondage is related to Hojōjutsu and that it came westwards from Japan thanks to the cultural exchanges that occured during World War 2 (source). It was influenced by knots that were already used in sailing and survival techniques as westerners at that time were not likely to be taught this Japanese martial art. Therefore the style differs significantly from Japanese Bondage.
