Anguisette
An Anguisette is someone who experiences deep pleasure, catharsis, or even arousal specifically from pain. Unlike a masochist who may enjoy pain as part of play, an Anguisette is often described as "made for pain," implying that their relationship to pain is central to who they are.
Origins of the Term
The term comes from the "Kushiel’s Legacy" fantasy novels by Jacqueline Carey. In the series, Anguisettes are people chosen by the god Kushiel to "find pleasure in pain." They are marked by a red dot in their eye, and are chosen by the Gods to be extreme masochists turning all pain into ultimate pleasure.
