Bloodbag
A bloodbag is a submissive role in vampire-themed kink and roleplay. It describes someone who willingly offers themselves to a Vampire Dom as a source of blood, a feeding partner, or an object of vampiric pleasure.
The role may involve consensual biting, simulated feeding, ownership, service, or other forms of power exchange. Some bloodbags enjoy being treated as a vampire's personal food source, while others emphasize devotion, surrender, and the intimacy of feeding.
The term is also sometimes used outside vampire roleplay describe a submissive who enjoys being made to bleed during sadomasochistic activities. This can inlcude sharps or intense impact play.
Bloodbag overlaps with roles such as vampire familiar and blood donor, but places greater emphasis on being consumed, possessed, or used for a vampire's pleasure.
Origins of the Term Bloodbag
The term bloodbag comes from the medical blood bag, a container used to collect and store blood. In vampire fiction and roleplaying, it became a dehumanizing term for humans treated as little more than sources of blood.
The expression was in use in vampire-related media by at least 2002. The video game "BloodRayne" uses bloodbag to describe the human victims the vampire protagonist feeds upon. The term also appears in "True Blood" fan fiction (2009-2010).
Another notable cultural reference is the 2015 film "Mad Max: Fury Road." In the film, Max is captured and used as a living blood donor for a sick War Boy named Nux. Restrained and connected to Nux through a transfusion tube, Max is referred to as his "blood bag."
Within BDSM and vampire-themed roleplay, bloodbag has taken on a more consensual meaning. Rather than describing an unwilling victim, it can be a submissive identity adopted by someone who enjoys being treated as a vampire's personal source of blood or an object of their pleasure.
It's unclear when bloodbag first emerged as a distinct BDSM role, although the term has been appearing on FetLife since at least 2015.
