A muscle slut is someone who has a reverent appreciation for muscular body types or someone who, themselves, is muscular and identifies as a slut. The term is also used more broadly to refer to someone who embraces being fit and muscular.
Origins of the Term
Muscle slut does not appear to have a single documented coinage. The phrase likely developed as slang within gay/queer muscle culture and bodybuilding-adjacent desire, then overlapped with muscle worship and body-worship kink communities. By 1996, it was appearing gay personal ads. Later, the phrase circulated through online handles, fetish/muscle-worship spaces, slang dictionaries, and novelty merchandise.
Google Search data shows significant online interest in the term didn't emerge until 2008. Muscle slut first appeared in Urban Dictionary in 2022, referring to someone attracted to muscular men or bodybuilders.
