Handler
A person, usually a Dominant, who takes the lead role in a pet play dynamic, caring for and directing the activities of a pet.
In broader kink contexts, a Handler may also act as a Protector during heavy or high-intensity scenes, particularly when participants enter non-human or altered headspaces, watching over both the bottom and the Top to help ensure safety, consent, and emotional stability throughout the play.
They help manage the energy, logistics, and emotional grounding that such transformative experiences can require, and may also facilitate setup and cleanup, assist with aftercare, monitor for physical or emotional distress, and support safe reentry once the scene concludes.
